Through the fear of the LORD a man avoids evil

In our everyday lives, we encounter several people, and out of these many people, you may think each and every one of them has committed more than one sin. That is actually true as no matter how much men try, they still sin and no matter how much they atone for it, it will never be enough if they plan to do it again. Everyone sins, and since it’s so much of a common instance, people become lax and not fear committing one every now and then thinking that these are just light mistakes and can be forgiven anytime. I learned from one of the churches in Lexington KY and itsays in the Bible that our lord is a merciful lord but he also has his limits.

In the book of Proverbs, chapter sixteen, verse six, you’ll find the words “Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the LORD a man avoids evil”. And another verse I might want to add in here is found in the book of I Corinthians, chapter four, verse two: “Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful”. Trust is something that can easily be broken and restoration is one thing you’ll find difficult – these are verses explained to me at the churches in Lexington KY.

“Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for” simply means that because God is merciful, we are instantly forgiven if we wholeheartedly ask for his forgiveness after we committed a sin. But the big issue here is about the people whose trust we have broken: they will probably not trust you for a pretty long time after this happened.

Even if forgiveness happens instantly, it will take a lot of time to regain trust as the person who has sinned needs to prove that he is once again worthy of the trust that was once given to him before sinning. For instance, a friend you caught stealing money from you may be forgiven instantly but will take a really long time for you to trust him with your money again.

I have also learned from churches in Lexington KY about the verse “through the fear of the LORD a man avoids evil” which translates to “if you truly fear the LORD, you will not commit any sin”. And if you yourself think lightly of committing a sin think again as it basically disproves that you fear God.
